NCC Cadet Dumesh Kumari of Vallabh Government College, Mandi, has brought laurels to the institution and the state by successfully climbing Mount B.C. Roy summit (18,000 ft) and hoisting the national flag.

Media coordinator of the college, Flying Officer Chaman Kranti Singh said, “She achieved this feat while successfully completing the prestigious Advance Mountaineering Course  conducted by the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute (HMI), Darjeeling, West Bengal and was the only participant from the region.”

On her return to Vallabh Government College, Mandi,  Dumesh Kumari was given  a warm welcome in  the college and was felicitated by Principal of the college Dr Sanjiv Kumar . 

The Principal Dr. Sanjeev Kumar stated, “The NCC cadets of Vallabh Government College, Mandi, are enhancing the glory of the college and the state at both national and international level under the able leadership and guidance of Flying Officer Dr. Chaman and NCC cadets of the college have represented India with distinction in Youth Exchange Programme camps held in Russia, Bangladesh, Kazakhstan, Vietnam and Bhutan”.

Flying Officer Dr. Chaman Lal Kranti, Flight Commander and Associate NCC Officer of the NCC Air Wing, Mandi, said,” The Advance Mountaineering Course is a multidimensional training programme that strengthens the physical and mental endurance of NCC cadets, develops leadership qualities, enhances disaster management skills, and nurtures their interest in the Indian Armed Forces and adventure activities”.

Cadet Dumesh hails from the Gohar region of Mandi district and is currently a third-year B.A. student at Vallabh Government College, Mandi.
