
Kullu, June 25
Three persons were washed away in flash floods in Sainj valley of Kullu district after cloud bursts at several places in the district on Wednesday.
Sixty years old Nand Ram, his 12 years old daughter and his relative Yani Dassi (55) went missing near Bihali after the flash floods.
Deputy Commissioner Kullu Tarul S Raveesh said, “Since flash floods have done extensive damage to houses in the area and three persons went missing on Wednesday, we fear three persons were washed away in the flash floods.”
Flash floods in Jeewa Nullah in Sainj valley, Sheelagarh in Gadsa, Snow gallery in Atal Tunnel Manali and Horang nullah in Banjar valley caused extensive damage after the floods.
While a few houses have collapsed, many houses, a few bridges, and several cow sheds were also damaged. Many vehicles parked near Jeewa Nullah and Sheelagarh were damaged. A camper was washed away in the flood near Bihali. A large number of wooden logs were also seen floating in floods near Gadsa and Sainj.

DC Kullu said, “The district administration has roped in NDRF teams and local police to carry out relief and rescue operations in the flood affected areas and make an effort to provide every possible help to the affected people.”
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for more rain in several parts of the state till June 28 and warning of flash floods in parts of Chamba, Kullu, Mandi, Shimla and Sirmaur districts during the next 24 hours.
