Nachan Forest Division organised a seven-day training camp for Van Mitra, which concluded on Wednesday.

Divisional Forest Officer Nachan, Surender Kashyap said, “A total of 58 van Mitra, 37 women and 21 men attended the training camp, and after the training, they will be involved in community-driven forest conservation and assist forest officials in various beats in Mandi district.”

He said, “During the intensive week-long training, Van Mitras were imparted with essential knowledge and hands-on experience in wildfire prevention and response, wildlife protection, community engagement and basic first aid. These skills are expected to prepare them for swift and effective action during forest-related emergencies and promote long-term conservation.”

“They will serve as the department’s extended arms in the field — assisting with monitoring, community out-reach and rapid response during crises,” he added.

Padma Shri Nek Ram Sharma and Priyanka from the Brahma Kumaris organization graced the closing ceremony.
