The Indian Meteorological Department’s (IMD) Shimla Centre has issued an orange alert predicting heavy to very heavy rains and hailstorms for Chamba, Kangra, Shimla, Mandi, Sirmour, Kullu, and Solan districts of Himachal Pradesh, from midnight on April 18 to 19.
As per the IMD weather forecast, Chamba, Kangra and Kullu districts will experience very heavy rain on April 18, while rain will hit Mandi district on April 19. Yellow alerts have also been issued for the districts of Una, Bilaspur, Hamirpur and Kinnaur.
The rain and strong winds in several parts of Himachal on Wednesday had uprooted trees and tin roofs and damaged standing crops of wheat in fields.
