Two reporters of social media channels were arrested by Vigilance & Anti Corruption Bureau (VACB), Dharamshala on the charges of extorting money from a private school in Dharamshala on Tuesday .
SP Vigilance and Anti Corruption Bureau Dharamshala said, “A complaint was received in the Bureau office on Tuesday from the chairman of a private school against two Dharamshala based reporters of social media channels for blackmailing a school management.”
“ As per the complaint, accused Mriutanjay claimed to be a reporter of Khabar Aaj Tak Channel and Rakesh Bhardwaj reportedly worked for Ajab Gajab News Channel ; both of them had reportedly threatened the school management to publish a report about the school and allegedly demanded Rs 50000 each for not carrying the news item,” the SP added .
“The vigilance set up a trap and arrested the two red-handed accepting Rs 25,000 each from the management, a case under Sections 308 (2) and 3 (5) of the Bhartiya Nayaya Sanhita has been registered against the accused,” SP added.
