The Himachal Pradesh government has ordered the transfer of Deputy Commissioner (DC) and Superintendent of Police (SP) Kullu, acting on the recommendation of Himachal Pradesh High Court . 

The High Court, which was closely monitoring the news reports and complaint of a local resident of the area about the illegal rave parties in the district, had taken cognizance of alleged ‘failure’ of the both officers.  

As per reports rave parties were common in the area where a large number of foreign nationals including Indian citizens with the active support of locals, have been organizing rave parties amidst deep forests.

“High intoxicating narcotics drugs are reportedly freely being served in the rave parties illegally and hundreds of semi-naked foreigners and Indian nationals danced to loud music the whole night on moonlight nights for which they were charged by organizers from Rs 10000 to Rs 15000 per person.”

The double bench of HP High court, headed by Chief Justice BS Sandhawalia and Justice Bipin Chander Negi had summoned a report from the District legal services Authority (DLSA) Kullu to conduct on the spot inspections of suspected rave party sites in Kasol and other places.

The court had also ordered the Deputy Commissioner (DC) and SP of Kullu to submit personal affidavits explaining the alleged lack of enforcement against organizers.

The reports of rave parties in the district were circulated by the organizers on the social media and billboards in the month of June 26, after which the High Court had sought a report from the District Legal Services Authority Kullu by visiting the spot and later ordered to transfer DC, SP and SDM Kullu.

DC Kullu Anurag Sharma has been transferred and the charge has been given to  ADM Kullu, IPS officer Abhishek has been appointed Kullu SP in place of Madan Lal.
