All India Congress Committee has nominated a new face- Anurag Sharma for the ensuing Rajya Sabha election to fill up one vacancy from Himachal Pradesh , election for which will be held on March 16.
The name of Anurag Sharma, Kangra District Congress Committee (DCC) President, was cleared by the AICC in the list of Rajya Sabha candidates released on Thursday morning, hours before the last date of filing the nomination papers on March 5.
Though several stalwarts of Congress like former Union Minister and senior Congress leader Anand Sharma, In-charge of HP Congress – Rajni Patil, former HPCC President and wife of six times former CM Virbhara Singh, Pratibha Singh, among other were vying for the Rajya Sabha nomination but Congress has chosen a new Congress leader Anurag Sharma for the election.
