Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Sukhu said the state government would move court against the discontinuation of the Revenue Deficit Grant (RDG) to the state.
The CM made this announcement after a special session on presentation held to discuss the situation arising out of the financial situation, at Shimla on Sunday.
Lashing out at the Leader of Opposition (LoP) Jai Ram Thakur, the CM said, ” the LoP and BJP MLAs were invited to attend the special presentation on the state’s finances but they ignored the request”.
He said, “ It’s strange the LoP and other BJP leaders are issuing statements on the issue but ignored to join the detailed presentation on the financial situation of the state , making it abundantly clear BJP leaders are only interested in doing politics and not to address the genuine concerns of Himachal Pradesh .”
He said, “BJP leaders should come forward in taking up the RDG issue with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the larger interest of the state.”
He said the BJP must rise above political considerations and urge the PM to restore the RDG or give a special grant to the state.
The CM said there is a gap of Rs 7,000 crore-8,000 crore between revenue and expenditure, which was being met through the RDG.
He said the state government will politically and legally fight for its rights.
The CM after watching the presentation said , “There is a clear significant resource gap of about Rs. 6000 crore excluding developmental works, pending liabilities, state schemes for FY 2026-27 and it cannot be done in a short span of time .”
“This is the very reason why hilly States like Himachal Pradesh were recognized and given special category status since the state was formed to fulfill the aspiration of people of Himachal and not as a financially viable unit,.” He added. .

This shows the central government doesn’t recognise HP as part of Indian Union of states, this is low level of politics.
