
A Fir has been filed by Punjab Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) against unnamed industrialists of Himachal for alleged discharge of industrial effluents in the Sirsa River causing alarming pollution of Sutlej River, at Ropar Police Station (Punjab) on Sunday.
AAP MLA from Ropar, Dinesh Chadha filed the FIR on Sunday morning after certain morning walkers seeing polluted Sutlej River near Ropar reported huge accumulation of industrial waste at the head gate in the river.
In his complaint MLA Chadha alleged that chemical waste discharged from the industrial units at Baddi – Barotiwala industrial area of Himachal Pradesh, was polluting the water of river Sirsa which ultimately merge into Sutlez River. As a result of which the effluents have flown and accumulated at Ropar head gate.
“Huge amounts of chemical based industrial waste discharged in river Sirsa from industries in Baddi – Barotiwala area contaminating water of Sutlej from which drinking water is drawn in Ropar and other towns. The pollution has become a hazard for humans and animals also,” the MLA alleged in his complaint.

Common with water bodies in India. People pollute these to save cost on pollutant treatment. The rivers lets or rivers are considered easy dump yards. The facts of the case may be revealed by the investigation but easy dumping of muck, household or industrial waste is common now that endangers the environment.
