
The He-Man of Bollywood: Veteran Hindi Film actor Dharmendra (89) passed away on Monday morning in Mumbai from age-related concerns.
Veteran actor Dharmendra was admitted in Breach- candy Hospital a few days back but was discharged from the hospital on November 12 and was recovering at his home but breathed his last today morning.
To ward off earlier rumors about his demise, the Mumbai police confirmed his death.
Security was tightened near the home of veteran actor Dharmendra on Monday after an ambulance was seen there. Among his health concerns, the Deol Family was seen leaving for Pawan Hans along with the ambulance. Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan were seen there.
PM Narendra Modi paid tribute to Dharmendra, calling his death ‘the end of an era’.
Writing on X the PM Modi stated, “The passing of Dharmendra Ji marks the end of an era in Indian cinema. He was an iconic film personality, a phenomenal actor who brought charm and depth to every role he played. The manner in which he played diverse roles struck a chord with countless people.”
“Dharmendra Ji was equally admired for his simplicity, humility and warmth. In this sad hour, my thoughts are with his family, friends and innumerable fans. Om Shanti,” PM Modi added.
Dharmendra, the star who dominated the Hindi Film World for nearly 65 years featured in about 300 films, prominent being Phool Aur Pathar, Sholay, Satyakam, Ankhen, Partigya and Sita Aur Gita etc.
A large number of film celebrities and people from political life have mourned the death of Dharmedra.
