Himachal Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri , who has been made state coordinator for ‘ Vote Chor Gadi Chhod’ campaign by All India Congress Committee (AICC) , said, “ This would begin from Shimla on Saturday .”

Interacting with media persons at Mandi on Friday, he said, “The campaign started by AICC would commence in the state from Shimla on Saturday and lakhs of signatures would be obtained by party workers throughout the state.”

Agnihotri said, “Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi has been raising the issues of alleged misuse of Electronic Voting Machines to help the ruling party, inclusion of a large number of voters in the voters lists as hundreds of voters have been registered in a single houses at many places, a large number of voters name have been  deleted at many places and against alleged partisan role of the office of Chief Election Commissioner of India.”

He said, “The party would involve all MLAS and all other leaders in this campaign and all of them have already been approached by the party to make this campaign a success.”

Replying to a question, he said, “The party organization at state level will be reconstituted soon and the campaign and coming Panchayat elections will not be affected during the process.”

Talking about restoration of drinking water schemes after recent natural disasters in the state, he said, “A loss of nearly Rs 4000 has been reported during the last three years in disasters and we have restored drinking water supply; delay in getting funds from the Central government under Jal Jiwan Mission is affecting payment for pending dues to contractors to the tune of Rs 350 crores.”

“We have urged the Central government to provide Rs 1200 crores to restore damaged water supply schemes in the state,” he added.
