Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced a financial assistance of Rs 1500 crore to disaster ravaged Himachal Pradesh , after conducting an aerial survey of rain affected areas of Kullu and Mandi districts on Tuesday ( September 9, 2025).

On reaching Dharamshala for the review meeting after the survey, the PM Modi announced to give an-gratia payment of Rs 2 lakh each to kin of the deceased in the disaster and Rs 50000 each to those injured in the natural disasters in the state.

The Prime Minister said, “We stand shoulder to shoulder with the people of Himachal Pradesh in this hour of massive losses in the region and ask for taking a multi- dimensional view and rebuilding in many ways.”

Concerned about gravity of the situation in Himachal Pradesh, the Prime Minister assured, “The central government would make all efforts to address the situation and announced to release second installment of SDRF and PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojna in advance and sanction more funds under PM Awas Yojana, for restoration of national highways and make provision of relief under PMNRF along with release of mini kits for livestock”.

The PM said, “ Geo -tagging of damaged houses will be done for giving quick relief under PM Awas Yojana for assessing losses and making disbursement of financial aid , schools will also be Geo- tagged for reporting damages and give assistance so that studies of students are not affected; special effort will be made to help farmers,” the PM stated .

PM Modi was welcomed by Himachal Pradesh Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu and Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri at Gaggal Airport (Kangra).

 Leader of the Opposition Jai Ram Thakur, State BJP chief Rajiv Bindal, BJP MLAs and other leaders were also present at the Airport to welcome the PM.  

Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu briefed PM Modi about the massive losses suffered by the state during this monsoon rain. BJP leaders also apprised the PM about the extent of damages.
