Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri Government Medical College (SLBSGMC), Nerchowk, organized a welcome ceremony and orientation programme with the commencement of the new  academic session-2026, on Tuesday.

Vice Chancellor of Atal Medical and Research University (AMRU), Dr DK Verma was the chief guest of the function.

Addressing the audience Dr Verma said the physicians represent the last hope for human life; therefore, they must discharge their duties with utmost responsibility.

He said humanity, punctuality and a habit of continuous learning are the hallmark of a good doctor and the budding doctors to stay away from any form of substance abuse and wished them all a bright future.

In his address, Principal of SLBSMC, Dr. Rajesh Kumar stressed the need of dedication, discipline, and enthusiasm as essential qualities for the medical profession. He also advised students to avoid the misuse of technology and mobile phones during this formative learning period. He extended his best wishes to all the students and their parents on this achievement.

Dr. Ashwani Kumar, Head of the Biochemistry Department and Chief Advisor for Student Welfare welcomed the participants and spoke about the significance of the medical profession.

The function was initiated by Dr. Richa from department of Pediatrics and vote of thanks was extended by Dr Ekta Dogra.
