Three cadets from Mandi district, Kajal, Vinay, and Pankaj, have been commissioned as lieutenants in the Indian Army after the completion of their training at the Officer’s Training Academy (OTA) in Chennai.

Kajal Rai Sadana, a resident of Mandi has become a Lieutenant in the Indian Army; her father Bhupender Sadana, mother Anjana Sadana and her mother Ashutosh were present in the passing out parade held on Saturday at Chennai.

Kajal completed her law degree and LLM and later qualified for the SSC exam to join the Indian Army.

Under Officer Pankaj Kumar and Cadet Warrant Officer Vinay Thakur from the NCC Air Wing of Vallabh Government College, Mandi, have also been commissioned Lieutenants in the Indian Army after successfully completing their military training at the OTA, Chennai. .

NCC officer of the college Flying Officer Dr. Chaman said, “Pankaj Kumar and Vinay Thakur are former students of Vallabh Government College and are cadets of the Himachal Pradesh Air Squadron NCC.”

Vinay Thakur hails from Bijani village near Mandi and had early education in Goa and later joined Mandi College for higher education. After the sudden demise of his father, Vinay worked to support his family, but through immense dedication, he was selected for the Indian army.

Former Senior Under Officer Pankaj Kumar, also an alumnus of Vallabh Government College, has been commissioned as a lieutenant. .

He hails from the Kortmoras (Dhooma Devi) village near Mandi. His father, Diwan Thakur, is a social worker and farmer.

Expressing his happiness, Dr. Chaman said, “The commissioning of both NCC cadets as lieutenants in the Indian Army has brought immense pride and joy to the NCC Air Squadron of the college.”
