Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has announced to reconstitute Himachal Pradesh Staff Selection Commission (HPSSC) Hamirpur to start recruitment process for filling up nearly three thousand government posts.
Making a statement on the floor of Himachal Pradesh Assembly on Wednesday the CM said, “On the recommendation of the committee constituted to look into irregularities in functioning of the HPSSC Hamirpur, after arrest of an employee for selling question papers and scrapping of the commission, the state government would soon reconstitute the commission to restart the recruitment process.”
He said, “Scrapping of the HPSSC had become imminent as several cases of leaking question papers by taking money had surfaced, which had not only put a question mark on the functioning of the commission but had also deprived meritorious candidates from getting government jobs.”
Talking about the future of employees of the HPSSC, the CM said, “The employees of the defunct commission have already been given options and no employee of scrapped commission would be deployed again; employees with integrity would be deployed in the commission on rotational basis and complete transparency would be maintained in the recruitment process for fair recruitment of candidates on merit.”
The CM also announced to relax the age of those candidates who have crossed the age limit for delay in recruitment process due to paper leakage of certain categories.
In another development in the paper leak case the Special Investigation team (SIT) arrested former Secretary of the HPSSC Jitender Kanwar on Tuesday at Hamirpur.
The SIT has already arrested 15 accused in the paper leak case and Kanwar remained posted in the HPSSSC for a very long time.
G Shivakumar DIG Vigilance said,” The former secretary was also controller of the examinations and in- charge of all secret and confidential records of the commission.”
