Union Minister for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Piyush Goyal said the state has made tremendous progress in every sphere during the last fifty years after becoming a state.
Goyal, presiding over a state level function on Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana at Shimla on Saturday said, “The state has pioneered several schemes and shown a way for other states also.”
He said, “Our PM Narender Modi has completed 20 years in public service, 15 years as Gujarat CM and now PM of the country and he has dedicated these years for up-lifting the poor and the downtrodden and making India strong.”
The minister said , “ The schemes launched by the Central government are aimed at welfare and development and schemes like Jandhan Yojana, Sobhagya Yojna , Ujwala Yojana , Kusum Yojana and Ayushbharat, Kissan Samman Nidhi Yojana have helped different sections of the society and Swachh Bharat Yojana have helped in launching cleanliness drive in the country.”
He also congratulated the state on its Golden Jubilee of statehood and for achieving cent per cent vaccination of first dose against COVID.
While interacting with the beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana the minister also gathered views of beneficiaries.
Goyal who also holds the portfolio of Commerce and Industries said, “This week is being celebrated as Vanijya Saptah from September 20 to 26 to celebrate India’s economic power.”
While interacting with the industrialist and investors he appreciated the initiative of the state government to invite investment in the state through Investor’s Meet and signing 703 MOU’s for investment of nearly Rs 96000 crores and develop the state into an industrial hub.
Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur said, “Under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana, an ambitious scheme launched by the Central Government has been ensuring food security to the people during the COVID -19 pandemic, food grains worth Rs 643 crore have been distributed free to the families”.
Appreciating the role of industrialists in development of the state Thakur said, “The state government has succeeded in getting a Medical Devices Park which would give a boost to industrial development in the State.”
Ration bags were also distributed on this occasion.
