Himachal Pradesh government has launched Mukhya Mantri Shahri Ajeevika Guarantee Yojna (MMSAGY) to tap the skills of natives who have returned to the state in the wake of COVID-19 pandemic.
Nearly one lakh forty thousand natives of the state have returned homes from different parts of India after relaxation in lock down norms on April 25 and many more are returning.
Since a large number of these are skilled and were working as professionals in different sectors the state government has decided to tap their potential by utilizing their services in the state for sustaining their services in the state to benefit them.
MMSAGY has been launched to enhance livelihood security in urban areas by providing at least one hundred twenty days guaranteed employment to every household in this financial year, which would be implemented through Urban Local bodies.
While this scheme people would be getting employment opportunities MMSAGY would also help in their skill development and setting up their own businesses, besides engaging in skill development training and getting subsidy linked credit linkages.
All adult members of the household below 65 years can register under the scheme residing in the jurisdiction of that urban local body and they would also be provided loan under Deen Dayal Antodya National Urban Livelihood Mission.
Beneficiaries will be issued a job card within seven days of registration and employment will be given within 15 days failing which employment allowance of Rs. 75 per day will be paid by the ULBs.
Equal wages are to be paid to both male and female workers. Wages will be directly deposited in the bank account of eligible beneficiaries by the ULBs on fortnightly basis. They would be employed in any ongoing Central or state government works under Solid Waste Management Rules and Swachh Bharat Mission.
