Five policemen of Himachal Police, on the escort duty of HP Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, have been suspended after a video went viral on social media, wherein the cops are shown allegedly buying liquor from liquor vend in Chandigarh, while returning from Chandigarh.
SP Solan Gaurav Singh suspended five policemen, including a Sub-Inspector, as a cop in uniform was caught in a video grab, buying liquor in Chandigarh and putting it in the official escort vehicle.
The five were deployed to escort the Chief Minister CM to Chandigarh on Saturday. After the CM, who was on his way to New Delhi left, the policemen returning back from Chandigarh were captured buying liquor and putting it in the official escort vehicle.
Taking cognizance of the video, SP Solan Gaurav Singh took strong note of the misconduct of the policemen deputed on the CM’s escort duty and suspended the five policemen.
The SP said, “A probe to ascertain the place and the date when the video was shot was underway; we have warned the policemen to maintain discipline and not to indulge in any act which tarnishes the image of the police.”
