The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday announced Maharashtra Governor and BJP leader CP Radhakrishnan as the National Democratic Alliance’s (NDA) candidate for the post of Vice President.

The post of Vice President was vacated in July after former Vice President Jagdeep Dhankar had resigned from the post.

The decision was taken at the BJP Parliamentary Board meeting, which was called to finalize the party’s choice for the Vice Presidential election as the election schedule has already been announced and nomination will begin on August 21st.

BJP chief JP Nadda announced his candidature after the BJP Parliamentary Board cleared it today.

Radhakrishnan (68) hails from Tamil Nadu and was appointed the Maharashtra Governor last year.
