
As people affected by flash floods in Seraj area of Mandi district on June 30, are still struggling for basic needs, Mandi district administration is making every effort to provide succor to people.
Several areas are still cut off from main roads and are walking miles to get relief material by crossing make-shot bridges to cross nullahas and ravines.
Deputy Commissioner Mandi Apoorv Devgan, who is supervising the relief operations, is himself visiting interior areas of Thunag and Jenjehli.
After reviewing the relief and rehabilitation work in Thunag on Tuesday, he said, “On the instruction of the state government, highest priority is being given to restoring road and communication links in the affected areas, the road from Thunag to Jarol has been temporarily restored, the restoration of road near Pandav Shila is going on at war footing and the administration has set a target to restore main road to Janjehli by late Tuesday evening.”
Joint Director Panchayati Raj Surendra Mohan said, “The state government is also distributing ration through among the affected people and so far 900 people have been provided ration in Thunag, besides other areas.”
DC said, “A team of the Health Department along with doctors reached Mahidhar, Jhundi, Khurara, Bijwas villages and giving medical aid.”
Leader of Opposition Jai Ram Thakur, who has been visiting flood affected areas after the disaster, reached Daisy village of Pakharer Panchayat of Seraj Assembly constituency on Tuesday.”

Thakur said, “Eleven people are still missing from the village and no one has been found yet, the condition is quite bad of the link road to the area and even paths have become dangerous to walk, most of the houses have been destroyed and people have no shelter.”
Thakur also urged the district authorities to provide immediate relief material in the area.
