Heavy snowfall in several parts of Himachal Pradesh disrupted normal life, severely affecting water and electricity supplies. The Lahaul Valley and Manali region were particularly impacted, with vehicular traffic coming to a standstill. Nearly 1,000 tourist vehicles were stranded, leaving approximately 5,000 tourists trapped on Friday evening.

Rescue operations were carried out with the combined efforts of police personnel and NDRF teams, ensuring the safety of all stranded individuals.

The snowstorm, which began early in the morning, caused significant disruptions as vehicles were trapped on steep and hazardous roads.

DSP Manali, KD Sharma, stated, “The rescue operation focused on ensuring the safety of the tourists and other passengers who had been stuck for several hours in the region. All stranded tourists, nearly 5,000 in total, were safely brought to Manali from Solang Nala.”
