The Himachal Pradesh Units of Kisan Sabha and CITU observed ‘Black Day’ on Friday to protest alleged police repression and killing of a farmer on Punjab – Haryana border.
A demonstration was held at DC Office Shimla to protest killing of a youth Shubhkaran Singh and injuring several others in the alleged police action against the protesting farmers, heading towards New Delhi to raise their demands
“Kisan Sabha and CITU activists also burn effigies of Home Minister Amit Shah, Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar and Anil Vij Home Minister of Haryana”.
Strongly condemning the police , the CITU and Kisan Sabha leaders termed the police action on Khanauri and Shambhu borders as ‘ barbaric ‘ in which a young farmer lost his life and a dozen others were injured.
They accused the police,” For lathi charge, using plastic bullets and tear gas shells against the farmers trying to head towards the national capital ( New Delhi) to raise their demands and to remind the Central government to fulfill promises made to them by the government at the time of withdrawal of three farm laws .”
The protesters said, “The Modi government at the Center and the BJP government in Haryana is bent upon stopping the farmers from reaching Delhi by using the state powers denying them their democratic rights.”
Apple Farmers Federation of India convenor Rakesh Singha, Kisan Sabha President Dr. Kuldeep Singh Tanwar and CITU State President Vijendra Mehra have demanded registration of a criminal case against people responsible for killing of a young farmer, paying Rs one crore compensation to the deceased family, besides fulfilling the demands of the farmers.
