The Meteorological Department (IMD), Shimla, has issued a forecast of heavy to very heavy rain in parts of Himachal Pradesh from 19 to 23 July after restoration of monsoon in the state.

The IMD has issued Orange and Red alerts for several districts as the heaviest rainfall is expected between July 20 July 22 at a few places, where risk of flash floods, landslides, cloudbursts and disruptions to essential services may increase.

 In view of this, the State Disaster Management Cell has issued detailed instructions regarding preparedness and response measures to all Deputy Commissioners (DCs), DDMA Chairpersons, and Heads of Departments.

It has directed all departments to remain on high alert during the alert period and ensure immediate action in any emergency and submit regular situation reports to the State Emergency Operation Centre.

All Deputy Commissioners, DDMA Chairpersons, and Heads of Departments have been asked to must ensure activate District Emergency Operation Centers on a 24-hour basis, keep Quick Response Teams, Home Guards, Fire Services, and the Police fully prepared, maintain emergency communication network and issue warning and take timely action in emergency .
