Known writer, novelist and journalist Krishan Kumar Nutan (97), , who passed away on Saturday after a prolonged illness,  was cremated at Hanuman Ghat Mandi on Sunday, where a large number of people paid him last tributes.

Nutan, who  had hogged the limelight through Hindi film ‘Geet Gaya Patharon Ne’, has a long list of novels and books to his credit.

Born in the family of a freedom fighter – Khemchand, Nutan’s life story was no less dramatic than a film script. Opposing his family’s decision to marry him off at a young age, he ran away from home and became an ascetic and later was drawn to writing, which remained his lifelong passion.

He authored more than twenty books, the majority of which were novels, poetry books and was also conferred with Dr. Yashwant Singh Parmar State Award by Himachal Pradesh government for his book ‘Itihas Sakshi Hai.’

Renowned filmmaker V Shanta Ram had made Hindi film ‘Geet Gaya Patharon Ne’ based on Nutan’s story ‘Yaadgar’ but when the film maker failed to give him credit, Nutan sued him in the court, which brought him to national spotlight.

Deputy Commissioner Mandi Apoorv Devgan among others, has mourned the death of Nutan.
