In a very disturbing incident a 19 year college student was murdered in a most cruel manner by a “drug addict” on Monday morning in Gopalpur area of Sarkaghat sub-division in Mandi district.
As per information , a college girl – Siya Guleria, on her way to catch a bus from her village Wainjhi ( Gopalpur) to take a bus to reach Sarkaghat college, was attacked with a darat (a large sickle) by the accused multiple times at about 9 am killing her on the spot , about a kilometer away from her home.
The Sarkaghat police has arrested Vikas Patial, a resident of Gopalpur in this connection, who was hiding in the fields after the murder and was captured by the villagers, the motive for this gruesome murder is still not clear.
According to a villager, “The victim was first attacked on her arms with the darart by the accused and later in a most gruesome manner beheaded by slitting her throat, leading to her death.”
“The villagers from a nearby area rushed to the spot on hearing screams of the victim but the girl died on the spot”, he added.
SP Mandi Vinod Kumar said, “The police are investigating the murder from every angle and also checking CCTV camera footage from the area to gather further details.”
