State wide strikes at few centers and rallies were held in Himachal Pradesh on Thursday, on the call given by the Coordination Committee of All India Trade Unions and Farmers’ Organizations against the alleged “communal and corporate nexus” of Modi led Central government.

Hundreds of workers and employees of various unions and organizations joined the strike, which included Anganwadi and Mid Day Meal workers, fruit and vegetable vendors , Himachal Pradesh Medical Representative Association, HPSEBL Joint Committee of Power Board employee’s and 102 & 108 Ambulance workers , , SBI outsourced workers  and  LIC Employees Association etc.

The trade union and farmer’s activists walked through bazaar of Mandi, Shimla , Hamirpur, Kullu , Chamba, Joginder Nagar and at many other places took out processions carrying flags and placards and raised slogans against the Central government castigating it for the alleged “ anti-employees, anti workers and anti farmers policies .

The rallies were also held in Shimla, Mandi, Hamirpur, Joginder Nagar, Kullu and Chamba addressed by leaders of trade unions and Kisssan organizations.

Addressing the rallies the leaders criticizing the Central government accused, “The BJP government at Center recently abolished the MGNREGA Act, depriving 120 million families of employment and job guarantee.”  

They said, “The call for strike has been given against the four anti-labor labor codes passed by the central government, demanding repeal of the labor codes, give minimum wage of Rs 30,000, regularize Anganwadi, Mid-Day Meal and other scheme worker and giving them all benefits equivalent to government employees’, reinstate MNREGA and repeal Vikas Bharat Rural Guarantee for Employment and Livelihood Mission Act etc.

On this occasion CITU leaders Dr Kashmir Singh Thakur addressed the rally at Hamirpur, CITU President Vijender Mehara at Shimla, CITU General Secretary Prem Gautam at Kullu and other trade union leaders at other places.

At Mandi DYFI President Suresh Sarwal addressed a rally at Mandi. Several Union leaders also addressed the rallies.

Kisan Sabha Vice-president Kushal Bhradwaj also addressed the rally at Joginder Nagar and strongly criticized the US – India trade deal which will severely hit the interests of Indian farmers. 

HPSEBL employee’s coordination committee also held a Dharna at Kumar House Shimla which was addressed by Convenor of the coordination committee Er. Lokesh Thakur and Co-convener Hira Lal Verma.

The Power employees strongly condemned the proposed Electricity (amendment act -2025) and moved to privatize the HPSEBL Board.
