
The Dharamshala Police has booked a college lecturer and three students of Government Degree College, Dharamshala on the charge of alleged ragging and sexual harassment of a former student of the college, who died on December 26, 2025 during her treatment in a hospital at Ludhiana.
An FIR has been registered in the case on the complaint of father of the deceased and a video posted on social media from the hospital, in which the girl had leveled charges against the accused booked for her victimization and sexual harassment.
Vikram Singh, the father of the girl, after the death of his daughter had approached the police demanding registration of an FIR against the accused named by the girl during her treatment at the hospital.
The Police said, “The complainant in his statement had accused three students of the college namely Harshita, Aakriti and Komolika for allegedly ragging and torturing the girl and college lecturer Ashok Kumar for allegedly making obscene acts.”
Her father told the police,” Following the alleged harassment and intimidation, his daughter became extremely frightened and mentally disturbed, leading to a serious decline in her health. She was initially treated at different hospitals in Himachal Pradesh as her condition continued to worsen, she was taken to Dayanand Medical College Hospital, Ludhiana, where she died on December 26, 2025,” the police said.
The College Principal Rakesh Pathania said, “The girl had failed in BA part 1 examination and was trying to seek admission in BA part 2 but could not get admission in the college.”
The father of the victim said, “He could not report the matter earlier in the case as his daughter became terrified and became seriously ill.”
Meanwhile, a delegation of CPM headed by state secretary Sanjay Chauhan met the Director General of Police (DGP) on Friday and submitted a memorandum to him demanding a high level inquiry in the case as this is a serious matter of victimization of the girl belonging to a weaker section of the society.”
