Himachal Pradesh PWD Minister Vikramaditiya Singh has faced criticism from his own Cabinet colleagues for his remarks made against certain bureaucrats from other states, presently working with the state government.

The minister had made a statement a few days back stating, “Certain bureaucrats belonging to Bihar and Uttar Pradesh are allegedly not working in the interest of Himachal Pradesh and distributing development funds with whims and fancies.”

Criticizing PWD Minister Vikrmaditya Singh , his Cabinet colleague Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Anirudh Singh has termed the remarks as “ inappropriate and unfortunate and will discourage bureaucrats.”

“Accusing officials and making such sweeping public statements are an attempt to conceal weaknesses and such remarks definitely demoralizes our officers working with our government,” he added.

Earlier, Revenue Minister Jagat Singh Negi had also asked PWD Minister Vikrmaditya Singh to name the officers instead of blaming everyone.

However, Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri has tried to downplay the issue.

  1. There is nothing inappropriate or discouraging in PWD Minister Vikramaditya Singh’s remarks. It is a straightforward warning to certain bureaucrats to work only in the interest of Himachal Pradesh and stop acting under external political influence. Bureaucrats are here to serve the state, not outside agendas.
