The 56th statehood Day was celebrated throughout Himachal Pradesh on Saturday, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu unfurled the National Flag at a state level function held at Pragpur in Kangra District.
The CM also took salute from the marching contingents of Police, Home Guard, NCC Cadets and Van Mitras.
Addressing a gathering on the occasion, The CM extended Statehood Day greetings to the people of Himachal Pradesh and also paid tributes to our freedom fighters and martyrs.
He announced the formation of Agriculture and Horticulture Commission, opening of SDM office at Pragpur and PHC at Nalsuha, and assured payment of pending pensions and arrears of state government employees.
He also unveiled plans for a “Samriddh Himachal Vision” document aimed at sustainable and inclusive development.
Highlighting reduced Central transfers compared to the previous BJP government, Sukhu said the State was working to strengthen its finances through increased own revenue and expenditure control.
The CM outlined progress on election guarantees, including phased rollout of Rs 1500 monthly assistance to eligible women, higher MGNREGA wages, relaxed BPL criteria, housing for long-pending IRDP families, and support for farmers and orchardists.
He also criticized the Central Government over apple import duties, MGNREGA changes and inadequate disaster assistance, while reaffirming his government’s commitment to protecting Himachal’s natural resources and recovering hydropower assets.
The Chief Minister also spoke about relief measures for disaster-affected families, governance reforms with record disposal of revenue cases, major investments in healthcare including robotic surgery, and improvements in education rankings.
Several troupes performed cultural performances on the occasion.
The CM also released an anti-drug web series and on the occasion and honoured several people on the occasion for their achievements in different fields.
Several Ministers, MLAs and top officers of the state government among other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
