The Lahaul- Spiti district administration has issued orders to close down Manali – Leh road for all vehicles for winters from November 20.
The district administration has issued the orders after receiving a weather report and condition of the road with the onset of winters from the Border Road Organization (BRO).
As per the report issued by a BRO official, “ The condition of Manali-Leh Highway has become quite risky at many places especially Jinjigbar –Sarchu stretch , Gaulaba , Marhi , Darcha etc with temperature dropping to zero degree and becoming slippery .”
The Lahaul- Spiti district Police has also issued an advisory to all vehicle owners not to ply their vehicles to maintain their safety and follow the directions issued by the administration. All travelers have been advised to reach their destinations at Leh or Manali till November 20.
The Highway is likely to remain closed for all vehicles for nearly six months as the Highway generally opens for traffic in the month of April .
