The five women Kabaddi players from Himachal Pradesh, who were part of the Indian Kabaddi team winning Kabaddi World Cup title -2025 at Dhaka (Bangladesh) on November 23, have brought laurels for the state.

It is a matter of pride for the state as players hailing from Himachal Pradesh- Ritu Negi and Pushpa Rana, both belonging to Shilai area of Sirmaur district were Captain and Vice Captain respectively of the Indian Kabaddi squad.

 Three other players  of the Indian team were Sakshi Verma (Sirmaur),  Champa Thakur from Chamba and Bhawana Thakur from Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh.  

Though Indian Captain Ritu Negi could not play the final match due to an injury but showed excellent leadership qualities in winning the World Cup title and displayed superb game skills.

The Indian Women’s Kabaddi Team clinched the Women’s Kabaddi World Cup, securing their second consecutive title with a 35-28 victory over Chinese Taipei in Dhaka.

The Indian team has also won the title in 2012 at Patna in Bihar .

Prime Minister Narendra Modi , Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and Himachal Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu have congratulated the Indian Women Kabaddi team for winning the World Cup title.

The Indian Kabaddi team played a superb game during the competitions and won all matches .

It is the second achievement for Himachal Pradesh in a month as Renuka Thakur hailing from Rohru area was also part of the Indian Women Cricket  team which won the T-20 World Cup in Mumbai .
