BJP MLA from Churah, Hans Raj was granted bail in Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act case registered against him by District and Session Court Chamba on Thursday.
The MLA was booked by Police after a young girl from Churah Assembly constituency had accused him of allegedly sexually exploiting her and later threatening her.
Her earlier complaint against the MLA was withdrawn in the court when the girl had retracted from her statement in the court, which the girl and her father accused of being taken under coercion by an aide of the MLA and a strongman of the area.
The girl had reiterated her charges against the MLA a few days back in a video and her father had registered an FIR against the MLA in Tissa police station recently .
Her father had charged the one aid of the MLA and one other person for forcibly taking him and his daughter to Shimla and they were coerced to withdraw the earlier complaint pending in the court.
They had also accused the MLA for threatening their family and tormenting the girl.
A case under Section 6 of the POCSO Act and other Acts was registered against MLA Hans Raj, and the MLA is being interrogated by the police.
The MLA was granted an interim bail by the Chamba court a few days back which was confirmed by the court today.
After getting the bail from the court today MLA Hans Raj stated, “I have full faith in the Constitution of India and I know that justice will be done.”
