
With fresh spell of rain and snowfall in many parts of Himachal Pradesh, a cold wave has engulfed several districts of the statee, quite early in the month of October, which is generally considered the pleasant month in hills.
The two days of continues rainfall in mid areas and snowfall on higher reaches including in tribal districts of Lahaul- Spiti, Kinnaur, Pangi –Bhamrour areas of Chamba district, Bara Bengal area of Kangra district and Dodra -Kwar area of Shimla district have left the entire state in the grip of cold wave with average temperature falling nearly 10 percent .
The meteorological department linked the present weather conditions with Western Disturbances leading to widespread rainfall and snowfall in the northern region and the precipitation is likely to last till Tuesday evening .
The Rohtang Pass situated at 13050 feet; Keylong, Jispa, Kaza and Kunjam Pass are covered under a thick blanket of snow. Keylong – Leh road has been blocked at several places and many trucks and vehicles are stuck at Darcha, Sarchu and other places.
