Himachal Pradesh government has declared the entire state as disaster affected after the huge losses of life and property during the ongoing devastating  monsoon season.

Making this announcement in Himachal Pradesh Vidhan Sabha on Monday, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu  stated , “ Himachal Pradesh has been declared a disaster affected state as the huge losses of more than Rs 3056 crore have been assessed in the state due to heavy rain and flash floods .”

The CM said, “A formal notification in this regard has been issued by the state government in the light of the magnitude of the destruction from cloudbursts, flash floods, and landslides affecting normal life and damages to a  large number of roads, bridges, electricity supply lines and drinking water schemes.”

Giving details of losses after flash floods in Mani -Mahesh during the annual Yatra, the CM  stated, “At least 16 pilgrims lost lives during the Yatra and bodies of four pilgrims are still stuck in Kugti village in Bhamaur as rescue teams are finding it difficult to bring the bodies due to heavy rain in the area;   more than 10000 pilgrims have been evacuated from Mani-Mahesh to Chamba by HRTC buses”, he added .
