The incessant rain in Mandi district during the past 24 hours has affected the normal life in the district as several roads including Chandigarh – Manali road have been blocked due to landslides.
The rain started on Saturday night and continued on Sunday with a brief gap of an hour during the day.
The traffic to Kullu has come to halt as both Chandigarh – Manali National Highway blocked beyond Mandi and alternative route via Kataula – Kamand has also been blocked due to landslides.
Mandi – Kullu National Highway no 3 via Pandoh is blocked due to landslide near Jhalogi, while alternative route via Kamand- Katuala is blocked near Kalauj due to a landslide.
Karsog has also been cut off from the state capital Shimla and district headquarter Mandi as both Karsog – Shimla road via Tattapani and Karsog – Mandi roads via Rohanda are blocked.
A landslide near Alindi has blocked Karsog – Shimla road and another landslide near Jhungi has blocked Mandi- Karsog road.
The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has deployed JCB machines to open Mandi- Kullu road, where several passengers are reportedly stranded , while PWD staff are making efforts to open other roads.
Several link roads in Mandi district are reportedly blocked due to landslides.
