Himachal Pradesh Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla has come in direct conflict with the state government by rejecting the two notifications issued by the state government to withdraw for appointing Vice Chancellors of two universities in the state.
Himachal Pradesh government had withdrawn two advertisements issued by the Raj Bhawan for appointing Vice-Chancellors of Dr. Y.S. Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Nauni (Solan), and Chaudhary Sarwan Kumar Agricultural University, Palampur, issued on behalf of the Governor in the capacity of Chancellor of the universities, challenging the powers of the Chancellor to issue such advertisements, a few days ago.
Strongly reacting to the withdrawal of the advertisements the Raj Bhawan has termed the withdrawal as “Wrong and Unconstitutional”, creating a row.
Governors of several opposition ruled states are already in conflict with the state governments as both state governments and the Governors have been stressing about their roles in the functioning of the state universities.
