Himachal Pradesh Vidhan Sabha passed a unanimous resolution on Thursday seeking Bharat Ratna Award for Dr Yashwant Singh Pramar, the first Chief Minister of the state, popularly known as founder of Himachal Pradesh.

The resolution to confer the Bharat Ratna for Dr Pramar was moved in Himachal Pradesh Vidhan Sabha by Nahan MLA Ajay Solanki.

The resolution read, “This House recommends to the Central Government to confer Bharat Ratna on the creator of Himachal Pradesh and its first Chief Minister Late Dr. Yashwant Singh Pramar ji in view of his tireless services in the development and progress of the country and the state”.

The resolution was supported by Industries and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Harshwardhan Chauhan, Industries Minister Jagat Singh Negi and Education Minister Rohit Thakur recalling the contribution of Dr Pramar in laying a strong base of Himachal in preparation for a modern state.  

The move was also supported by Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri, former Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur and MLA Sukhram Chaudhary.
