
At least thirteen people lost their lives, 29 people are still missing and 134 people were evacuated in devastating flash floods at various places of Mandi distinct during the past twenty four hours, as per data released by Mandi District Disaster Management Authority.
The worst affected areas struck by cloudbursts leading to massive flash floods have been reported at four locations in Gohar, three in Karsog, two in Dharampur, and one in Thunag area of Mandi district.
Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu visited Parchu bridge Sarkaghat subdivision flood affected areas in and Dharampur sub division of the district.
The CM also made an aerial survey of flood affected areas in Janjehli and Thunag and also distributed relief material at Raingalu helipad. He also talked to affected people and assured them all help in this hour of grief.
Former Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur also visited disaster affected Kuklah and Thunag areas and also talked to people there.

Thakur has asked the state government to provide 24 hours ropeway facility in the flood affected areas; demanded evacuation of all people trapped in Seraj area and every effort should be made to search for more than two dozen people missing.
Thakur said, “There is barely any road left in a radius of 20 km and there have been heavy landslides on the roads at many places, 11 people are missing from Daisy of Pakharair Panchayat, five from Thunag and two from Pandav Shila, 12 houses have been destroyed and nearly 200 damaged, 25 small and big bridges have collapsed and several kilometers roads have been washed away,” he stated.
“I have spoken to Home Minister Amit Shah and demanded deploying NDRF teams and two helicopters of the Air Force to speed up for relief work and immediately the Home Minister sent them,” he added.
