Eight passengers lost their lives and 21 were others were injured in a bus accident on Thursday as a Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) bus no HP-28-A-3717 rolled down a hill near Tangrala on Sarkaghat – Durgapur road in Mandi district at about 10 am in the morning.

The HRTC bus carrying 29 passengers was on its way from Sarkaghat to Durgapur when the driver of the bus lost control and it veered off the road ; the driver and conductor are among the injured.

SP Mandi Sakshi Verma has confirmed deaths of 8 passengers and 21 among the injured. The injured were taken to Sarkaghat government hospital, where five passengers died, seventeen of the seriously injured were taken to different hospitals i.e. – Medical college Nerchowk and AIIMS Bilaspur.

Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri visited the injured in Sarkaghat hospital and enquired about their health.

He expressed his deep condolences to the families of the deceased and wished speedy recovery of the injured passengers and asked the doctors attending the injured to provide them best treatment.

Agnihorti also visited the spot and ordered a magisterial inquiry into the accident.

Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu expressed grief over the loss of lives and directed the district administration to ensure proper treatment and assistance to the injured.
