Normal life was affected due to incessant rain continuing for the past 24 hours in many parts of the state.

While many  highways , roads and link roads were blocked due to landslides and collapsing of retaining walls, a five storied building collapsed on Monday near Bhattakufar under Chamiyana panchayat, near Shimla.

No loss of life was reported in the incident as the building was vacated on Sunday after it developed cracks.  Many people living in the adjacent buildings are worried as cracks have developed in adjoining structures.

The owner of the house Ranjana Verma said, “Our house had become unsafe after a construction company started digging for mining; no action was taken despite our repeated complaint to administration.”

“I had informed the four-lane authorities that my building was in danger but no action was taken,” she said

Kisan Sabha leader Kuldeep Tanwar also blamed the construction company and NHAI for the negligence on their part.
