( HP Governor taking salute at Shimla)

The 77th Himachal Day was celebrated with gaiety and fervour in the State on Monday. Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla unfurled the Tricolour and took the salute in an impressive march past at the state level function held at the Ridge in Shimla.

The march past was led by Parade Commander, IPS Abhishek in which contingents of State Police, Home Guards, and Bharat Scouts & Guides and NCC cadets participated.

Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu was also present on the occasion.

Addressing a gathering on the occasion the Governor congratulated the people of the state on the occasion and highlighted the rich heritage and natural splendour of the state.

Talking about the state journey of development the Governor emphasized on the role of its honest and hardworking people for their resilience in overcoming geographical and economic challenges to drive rapid development and also praised the peaceful atmosphere and social harmony as hallmarks of the state.

He said, “Coming into existence on April 15, 1948 with the merger of 30 small hilly princely states, Himachal state started its journey with meagre resources and today the state has emerged as a model of hill development.”  

Expressing his gratitude to the great sons of the state who have contributed for the development of Himachal Pradesh the Governor paid tributes to our freedom fighters and martyrs,

A colourful cultural programme was also presented on the occasion. Health Minister Dr.Dhani Ram Shandil, Revenue Minister Jagat Singh Negi and Chief Secretary Prabodh Saxena were also present on the occasion.
