Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee (HPCC) carried out a torchlight march from the Ridge to Ambedkar Chowk Shimla on Monday to protest the alleged attempts of BJP to topple the elected Congress government in Himachal Pradesh.

Hundreds of Congress activists led by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu and HPCC president Pratibha Singh marched from the Ridge to Ambedkar chowk.

Speaking on the occasion the CM said, “The BJP leaders have made mockery of democracy and given two hoots to democratic norms while attempting to bring down the Congress government in the state.”

He alleged,” Ignoring the huge mandate to Congress government by electorates in Himachal, an attempt was made by BJP leaders with the help of the Central government to destabilize the state government but our government would complete its five year term.”

Criticizing the previous BJP government in the state, the CM accused it for worsening fiscal health of the state and leaving a huge debt burden but despite financial constraints our government has fulfilled five out of ten guarantees given to people during the last Assembly election.

HPCC President Pratibha Singh, Cabinet Ministers, Deputy Speaker, Chief Parliamentary Secretaries, MLAs and the party office bearers participated in the torch march.
