The Kangra police have arrested a professor of the Central University (CU) of Himachal Pradesh (Kangra) on the charge of raping a student on Wednesday.
The Superintendent of Police Kangra Shalini Agihotri said, “A professor working in the chemistry department of the CU has been arrested on the complaint of a PhD student in the department for seeking carnal for helping her in changing her research topic.”
A Police source said, “The accused took her to a hotel and allegedly raped the student; the professor has been arrested under section 376 of the IPC and remanded to police custody till March 30 by a local court.”
