Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said, “ The scheme for engaging guest teachers on hourly basis has been put on hold till all doubts about it are clarified.”
The announcement of recruiting guest teachers in government schools and colleges had received a strong reaction from unemployed trained teachers, youths and academic community stirring protests in the state.
The CM said, “The guest faculty teacher scheme approved by the State Cabinet is only a stop gap arrangement to recruit guest teachers on period basis at the places where posts are lying vacant due to transfers of the teachers or schools facing staff shortage, to ensure smooth studies.”
He said, “The opposition parties are trying to mislead the youths on the issue and the state government has decided not to go ahead with the scheme for now.”

The question political parties, many academics and unemployed youth raised was regarding untenable nature of guest faculty recruitment. The government should not postpone ‘it ‘for now’’. The very initiative to implement it should be totally scrapped.
