Two young men lost their lives on Sunday midnight near Pulgharat (Mandi) on Kiratpur – Manali National Highway in a road accident.
A Police source said, “Lalit Kumar (22) son of Bidhi Chand, a resident of village Jawali in Patdighat area of Mandi district and Harish Kumar (21) son of Raj Kumar, a resident of village Dharmdwara (Surah) of Mandi district coming towards Mandi on motorcycle no HP19D5332 were hit by a Tempo Traveler no HR64A9446 coming from the opposite direction at Pulgharat and died on the spot.”
The police said, “Initially the police had booked the driver of the Tempo Traveler for the accident but after the investigation it was revealed the accident occurred due to boulders and muck lying on the road excavated by Surya Construction Company during the construction, without putting any informatory or cautionary sign board at the place.”
“ The police have booked Hani Thakur – site engineer, project manager Sumit Saha, supervisor Manoj and sub contractor Ganesh of the Surya Construction Company under sections 304 A,337,283 and section 198 A of Motor Vehicles Act for their negligence leading to loss of lives in the accident”, police added.
