 Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said, “The state government safely evacuated around 70 thousand tourists stranded in Himachal Pradesh for the past several days and the state government gave priority to bring back tourists to safer places.”

He said, “The rescue operations were started in the flood affected areas on a large scale and it was successfully completed with the cooperation of every one as nearly 15000 vehicles have been sent out from the state, besides electricity, water supply and mobile services have been temporarily restored in 80 percent of the affected areas and efforts are on to restore essential services in the remaining areas at the earliest.”

The CM also praised Indian Army and NDRF personnel for their relentless support in carrying out the rescue operations.

He said, “A cumulative loss of Rs 8000 crore has been assessed in the state during the recent natural calamity and the Central government should be generous in giving a helping hand to people of the state in this hour of crisis.”
