Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has clarified the water cess levied by Himachal Pradesh government would not affect the neighbouring states economically as this would be levied on Hydro power generation only and not on water released from the state.
In a joint press conferece after holding discussion with his counterpart Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann at Chandigarh on Wednesday he said, ” Himachal and Punjab have old cultural heritage and have always had cordial relations and we are committed to maintain it.”
He said, ” Besides water cess the both held discussion on joint Hydro power projects including BBMB and Shanan project and transfer of the Shanan project to Himachal after ending 99 lease ” .
The CM said, ” Misconceptions regarding water cess were cleared in the meeting and a committee of Chief Secretary of both states been constituted to resolve all Hydropower generation, besides promoting religious tourism. “
