BJP supported candidate Amaru Ram from Khilda ward and Bodi Devi from Thachi ward have been elected as chairman and vice chairman respectively of Mandi Zila Parishad unopposed on Thursday.

 The election was conducted by Deputy Commissioner Mandi Apoorv Devgan after administering the oath of office and secrecy to all elected Zila Parishad members.

Since BJP supported candidates had clear majority in Mandi Zila Parishad  all BJP supported members assembled at the circuit house where unanimity was reached for the post of Chairman and Vice Chairman in the presence of former Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur.

The BJP also took out a procession to celebrate the win at Seri Manch which was addressed by the former CM Jai Ram Thakur and other BJP leaders.

Addressing the gathering Thakur said, “The results of PRIs and Urban Local Bodies election have proved the people of the state have become disenchanted with the policies of present Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu government and Congress government has lost ground.”


He said, “The Congress government tried every method to trample the democratic norms in the election but despite using every trick the people of the state have rejected Congress and they will also do so in the next Assembly election in the state.”
