In a freak incident a young lady was killed in a celebratory fire in a religious ceremony in remote village of Rohru in Shimla district of Himachal Pradesh.
Ritika (26) was shot dead in Andhra village on Sunday where she had gone to attend the consecration ceremony of a newly constructed temple attended by a large number of villagers, when a person fired a bullet from his gun, which proved fatal killing Ritika on the spot.
The police later arrested the person, who had fled from the spot after firing.
Shimla SSP Gaurav Singh said a case under Section 103 (1) of the BNS and Section 25 of the Indian Arms Act has been registered against the accused at the Chirgaon police station, and further investigation is underway.
Police also seized the weapon used in the incident and also interrogated the eye witness and collected crucial evidence from the crime scene.
