
Himachal Pradesh celebrated its 79th Himachal Day on Wednesday throughout the state with great enthusiasm. Functions were held across the state to celebrate the day and the state-level function was held at Reckong Peo in Kinnaur district.
Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu unfurled the National Flag and took the salute at the march past from the contingents of 6th Indian Reserve Battalion, Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), District Police Kinnaur, 2nd Indian Reserve Battalion (Women), Home Guards, Traffic Police, SDRF and NCC cadets at Reckong Peo.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister greeted the people of the state and also paid tribute to the first Chief Minister of Himachal, Dr. YS Parmar and former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi for their immense contribution to the formation of Himachal Pradesh.
He also announced to withdraw the 3 percent salary deferment for Class I and Class II officers as announced earlier.
The CM also announced to give Rs 1500 per month as Samman Nidhi to all eligible women of Kinnaur, provide central heating system in all government institutions, schools and every house in Reckong Peo, up -gradation of Choltu High school to Senior Secondary School and Rs crore for construction of a traffic tunnel to connect Taranda village and shifting of Polytechnic college from Rohru to Urni, besides other announcements.
The CM also talked about the financial crunch in the state due to withdrawal of RDG and various steps being taken by the state government to manage its finances by generating its own resources.
He also talked about several development projects being undertaken by the state government and various welfare measures taken by the state government.
Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu honored distinguished personalities of Himachal Pradesh with the State-Level Awards 2026. He presented the Civil Services Award, Prerna Srot Samman and Himachal Gaurav award.

Deputy Commissioner Mandi, Apoorv Devgan and the Department of Digital Technology & Governance were honored with the Civil Services Award in the departmental/institutional category. Sub-Divisional Magistrate (Civil), Balh (District Mandi) Smritika Negi received the award in the individual category.
Revenue Minister Jagat Singh Negi, among other dignitaries was present on the occasion.
